When we arrived at Grammy's this past Tuesday, she had set out some very pretty fall decorations in her front yard which immediately intrigued the boys. That evening when David and I went to pick the boys up we had a quick photo shoot before dinner.
The boys are so tactile. They had to feel every bump, nook and cranny on each pumpkin and gourd.
They finally settled down enough to actually stand still behind the pumpkins...sort of.
Here are our humorous attempts at a family pic with our semi-cooperative four year old and super wiggly two year old. Sometimes you just gotta laugh at all that energy of theirs.
Grammy and Grandpop wanted a pic with the boys too. It went about as well for them.
We also took some pics in Grammy's front porch chairs and this pretty mum and squash. The boys sat there about a nanosecond - it's a wonder we've got a pic of it at all.
In all of the chaos of trying to get some nice fall pics of my cutie pies, we were able to get a single absolutely amazing perfect pic. This shot of Nathan hugging his little brother is absolutely priceless. It is one of my new all-time favorites of them together.
This pic is symbolic to me of what my life as a mom is like right now. Just when everything is at its craziest and the chaos is mind boggling and nothing seems to be going as I think it should, there will be a moment that is absolutely perfect. A moment when I can see that in the midst of it all my boys do love each other and deep down they know how blessed they are to have a brother and best friend to grow up with and it makes me want to cry and hug them and hold on to that moment forever. Gratefully, thanks to my camera, sometimes I get to.
